A rare 4.03 ct. fancy intense blue diamond will lead Bonhams Fine Jewellery sale in London this September.
The pear-shape stone is expected to fetch between 1.2 and 1.5 million pounds ($1.5 million to $1.9 million). It comes from a private collection in the United Kingdom.
Recently, blue diamonds have set records at auction, including the Oppenheimer Blue and the Blue Moon.
“We are delighted to bring this exceptional stone to the market,” Jean Ghika, head of jewelry for Bonhams UK and Europe, said in a statement. “Blue diamonds are extremely rare and highly coveted.”
