Today the embargo on reviews was lifted for the lucky few who have been testing Apple Watches for the past week.
The Apple Watch is available for preorder in 20 models ranging from $349 to $17,000 starting April 10.
Here are three reviews that I think are worth reading, if you’re interested.
Dear Diary: My Week Wearing an Apple Watch, by Farhad Manjoo in the New York Times. “It took three days—three long, often confusing and frustrating days—for me to fall for the Apple Watch. But once I fell, I fell hard.”
Apple Watch Review: A Day in the Life, by Nilay Patel at Verge. “What’s most interesting to me about [the fashion team’s] reaction to the Watch as a hardware object is how much it still comes off as a gadget, despite Apple’s best efforts to make it a luxury item. It’s still a screen; it’s still a bunch of radios; it’s still technology. They were hyper-critical of the materials and finishes, particularly the leather loop, and it was incredibly obvious that while a little bit of design goes a long way in the tech world, it’s going to take a lot more time and a lot more work to play in the fashion game.”
Apple Watch Review: You’ll Want One, but You Don’t Need One, by Joshua Topolsky on Bloomberg. “So far, the biggest question about wearables—there are already plenty of products on the market—is really: Who needs one?”
