Heads up, Halloween revelers: This one’s for you. This limited-edition sculpture collection by Berd Vay’e exhibits a bit of something for everyone, actually, and is really quite something to see.

It’s called Hallucination, Berd’s first-ever two-in-one sculpture, featuring the likeness of a skull comprising between 1,000 and 1,500 vintage watch parts, encased—appearing to float, rather—in a translucent cube of Lucite.

To create, the company’s artisans form a mold of the skull shape in Lucite, hand-placing the collection of vintage watch gear—barrels, wheels, springs, pinions, bridges, watch hands, all completely restored and polished—along its exterior. This sculpture is baked in a highly pressurized, 1,000-degree oven. This interior skull is then “frozen in time”—baked in a cube of Lucite. The process results in this psychedelic, what-am-I-seeing-here-exactly objet d’art, with a jewelry component that’s major for watch fans, retailers, heck, even history buffs. Not to mention fans of the macabre, who’d like every day to be Halloween.

Our editor-in-chief Victoria Gomelsky first wrote about Berd Vay’e in the March/April 2018 issue of JCK magazine, when the company offered just seven SKUs. There have been a couple of new additions (an hourglass-shape sculpture, an additional size of its Time Framed collection, and now this), but don’t look for any sort of mega-expansion: These limited-edition pieces each take a painstaking amount of time to make—not to mention  sourcing their parts.

The Hallucination sculpture weighs 39 pounds and measures 9.5 x 9.5 x 9.5 inches. It’s limited to 999 pieces with a retail price of $6,999.
