Alrosa is a Russian public company, a global leader in diamond mining with operations in Yakutia and the Arkhangelsk region. In 2019, Alrosa produced 38.5 million carats of rough diamonds. Sales revenue totalled $3.3 billion. Alrosa is an absolute industry leader in terms of social investments, spending on average 3% of its revenue for these purposes. Funding of about $150 million allows the company to implement about 500 social and charitable initiatives each year. Another $80 million is spent annually on environmental projects, including helping to protect reindeer and stocking fish into rivers in Yakutia. Alrosa mines in 2019 produced about 27% of all diamonds in the world.
