Brother and sister Tej and Anar Bhansali debuted Bhansali Jewelry last year with a distinct signature style: gem-in-gem inlay. The duo hails from the family who runs high-end manufacturer La Reina (pop is Samir Bhansali) and offers modern classics like octagonal- and oval-shape bangles in 18k gold with gemstone pavé and carved stone inlay. Anar completed the GIA Graduate Diamonds program after college, sketches pieces on paper prior to casting, and serves as the principal designer. “I find sketching to be the best way to communicate my ideas to our goldsmiths in Thailand,” she says. (Bhansali’s jewelry is made in Bangkok.) Bhansali features amethysts, diamonds, and more natural gems, while rubies, sapphires, and emeralds are lab created—a cost- effective and sturdy means of housing diamond cluster inlay. Of particular pride: earrings that remain flush to the ear for better weight distribution and a more comfortable fit.
