Moissanite manufacturer and jewelry brand Charles & Colvard announced today that it will debut a new gemstone cut at JCK Las Vegas 2019 that gives the classic rose cut two sides.
Called the Duet Rose, the double-sided round gemstone boasts a patent-pending faceting pattern showcasing a total of 48 facets top to bottom and is part of the brand’s Forever One collection.
The popular rose cut, which features a flat bottom with a dome-shape crown (and can have anywhere from three to 24 facets, according to Wikipedia), was designed to resemble the shape of a rosebud. The cut dates back to the 1500s and was common during the Georgian and Victorian eras. Charles & Colvard’s take on the cut eliminates the base and affects the look of two rose cuts placed back-to-back.
The Duet Rose by Charles & Colvard is available in round sizes that range from 0.054 ct. to 3.5 cts. in diamond-equivalent weights.
In addition to the Duet Rose, the company has introduced five new single-sided rose-cut shapes: pear, oval, marquise, cushion, and rectangular cushion. And an expanded assortment of 36 additional sizes (in existing shapes) are also now available to retailers. Those include cushion, cushion hearts and arrows, radiant, princess, Asscher, marquise, emerald, square brilliant, trillion, and baguette.
“Our Charles & Colvard design team is driving innovation for our customers,” said Suzanne Miglucci, president and chief executive officer of Charles & Colvard, in a company statement. “We are thrilled to offer it—along with a beautiful bouquet of additional shapes in our single-sided rose cut—through our trade partners and at charlesandcolvard.com.”
