When Emanuela Duca moved to New York City in 1998, she brought an organic-textured sense of style and her dog, Ghibli.

At that time, Ghibli, “a beautiful golden English cocker spaniel,” observes Duca, was eight months old. “He was a really good friend,” she adds about the pooch named after a hot, dry, dust-bearing wind common to northern Africa. “I hold a special place for him in my heart.”

Ghibli died in 2012 at the age of 15, but like many dog owners, Duca keeps his spirit alive in thoughts and actions—particularly in a newly revealed jewelry collection of the same name. “I’ve been thinking about Ghibli very much recently, and in many ways I feel as though he never left,” she says. Now she keeps her companion close by way of an 18k yellow gold jewelry collection inspired by Ghibli’s coloring and springy gilded hairs. Just a few SKUs exist to date, including a coil-motif ring, a lean collar necklace, and a wiry cuff bangle, though more may arrive later. A colorless diamond accent resides in the ring, and Duca’s signature organic-looking texturing—a mix of hammering, forging, and feathering—exists across all styles.
