You’re obsessed with Instagram, right? We’re on the same page. Odds are, if I’m looking at my phone, I’m likely perusing the picture-popping platform (how’s that for alliteration?). So I got to thinking: I talk about Pinterest here, why have I never done anything on my beloved Instagram? There are so many great users putting out inspiring, beautiful, funny things that it’s worth a few words on my part to recommend some of my favorites. There are many more where these came from, but here are 10 jewelry-industry ‘Grammers you should definitely follow.
P.S. You can follow me, too! That is, if you like pictures of travel, cats, and food (with an occasional side of jewelry).
Jane Taylor Jewelry
A pop of color can go a long way in brightening someone’s day, so if you’re ever feeling like you need a pick-me-up, Jane Taylor’s Instagram is where it’s at. The designer brand’s shots of delicious jewelry is like candy for the eyes, and mine eat it all up. If a JT Jewelry ‘gram pops up in your feed first thing in the morning, you know it’s going to be a good day.
Maggi Simpkins
I’ve been obsessed with designer Maggi Simpkins’ M by Magnolia brand since I got my hands on one of its ear cuffs, so of course it’s a pleasure to follow her on Instagram. The beautiful badass makes a line of killer jewelry, much of it featuring a golden filigree aesthetic, that demands to be in any (my) jewelry box. She may even make the leg jewelry thing happen.
Wendy Brandes Jewelry
You can follow designer and all-around awesome person Wendy Brandes’ personal account for everything from jewels to cats, concerts, and fashion finds (this one is a personal favorite of mine), but this account, dedicated to Wendy’s jewelry designs, allows you to get a look at what the designer is really capable of. Her intimate attention to detail and ferociously cool designs get their well-deserved spotlight here.
Todd Reed
You are probably familiar with Todd Reed’s work by now, so I don’t need to say much more about it. Just behold its beauty, in all of its raw, brilliant awesomeness.
Shamila Fine Jewelry
Come for the jewels, stay for the food. Not only does the supremely lovely Shamila Jiwa offer a range of beautiful designs, but girl also knows how to eat well. The always-on-the-road designer continues to inspire with shots of different places around the country—usually incorporating her covetable, stackable rings.
Melissa Joy Manning
The enviromentally conscious designer embodies her commitment with a range of nature-inspired shots, from rustic to beachy and every locale in between. Even with photos featuring a singular piece of jewelry, the ‘grammer has managed to make the shots look artful and supremely stylish.
Roseark
What I love about Roseark’s feed is that the brand is able to showcase a big lineup of jewelry by showing us how to wear it. Great shots of layered necklaces, stacked rings, and incorporating fashions jump from the photo—this is the way to get people to want to buy not just one, but all of the pieces (if only we could). For good measure, there are some humorous and inspirational shots of animals, art, and some good quotes, too.
Kara Ross
Kara Ross of Kara Ross NY sure does make some incredible jewelry, but it’s the designer’s posse of mascots that have stolen the show. First there was Lola the Lobster, who made her first official Instagram debut (by name) when she “escaped” from her window-display home on Madison Avenue. Then came the handheld clutches, with so much sassy attitude I almost believe they have true personalities (they even chill with celebs!). Now, there’s Pinky. The octopus is flirty and gorgeous, and I just really want to be in this pink lady’s squad. It’s so exciting to follow Kara—for her jewelry, yes—but also to check out what her menagerie is getting into next.
Jacquie Aiche
Jacquie Aiche’s official brand page pushes the boundaries of what account-suspending-happy Instagram likes to tolerate, and I love it. The brand doesn’t exactly pull a Miley Cyrus, but some of the images come close. The designer lets the jewelry speak for itself—truly—draped over otherwise-undressed bodies in luscious layers. The shots are sexy, sure, but not in a way that feels like it’s selling sex, more like bold and empowering. The designer has made quite the name for herself over the last couple of years, and if you’re not a fan already, then get the heck in here.
Diamondoodles
I’ve seen my fair share of really great hand-drawn Instagram accounts. Some manage to turn ordinary foods into couture. Some incorporate fabrics and pretty little glitzy things. But Diamondoodles uses gems. Now that’s what I’m talking about. A certain marquise-comprised doodle of Bart Simpson recently made my day in a big way.
This is just the tiniest portion of the massive amount of brilliance that’s out there in the Instagram universe. Please do share your favorites to follow—jewelry or otherwise!—in the comments.
