Upscale shopping center Aventura Mall in Miami-adjacent Aventura, Fla., is building out its tenancy of buzzy fine jewelry brands.
French diamond jewelry atelier Messika will debut its first-ever stand-alone store in the United States this month at the shopping center. David Yurman recently opened a new boutique in Aventura, and Messika will be next to the new store on the mall’s lower level.
The center is home to units from several high-profile jewelry and watch brands, including Djula, Tous, Cartier, Longines, John Hardy, and Pomellato. Multibrand jewelry retailers Mayors and Zales also have stores there.
David Yurman’s new spot will feature a curation of product across all categories, including women’s, men’s, and wedding. Shoppers will be able to check out a “heritage wall” that “visually narrates the Yurmans’ journey from art to jewelry, with examples of David’s early sculptures and Sybil’s paintings, alongside current designs that evoke the brand’s origins in art,” according to a statement released earlier this month from David Yurman.
We don’t know much about Messika’s new shop, but its inventory will include rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings.
The dual luxury jewelry brands “will further elevate the shopping experience for both our local and international visitors,” said Jackie Soffer, cochairman and CEO of Turnberry Associates, owner and manager of Aventura Mall, in a statement announcing the new Messika store.
Aventura Mall is routinely one of the top-performing malls in the nation. According to Green Street Advisors’ 2016 report on the top 10 malls in the United States by sales (its most recent report), Aventura Mall was the fifth most-lucrative shopping center in the United States, with $1,595 in sales per square foot.
