Italian fine jewelry brand Pomellato is rereleasing one of its most playful signature designs: a golden teddy bear named Orsetto.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of its launch, the gilded bear pendant has been given a mini design overhaul.
The original Orsetto had a more stout physique and very defined paws. The new teddy is decidedly slimmer, and his paws have been given a more abstract design. The pendant also hangs a little differently. The new chain placement is tilted, taking into account the angle in which a child would carry a real teddy bear.
The bear pendant was originally yellow gold, but the new Orsetto is rose gold. Its arms and legs are still articulated, per the old design. But now Orsetto comes in three different sizes and is available with or without diamond pavé (on the bear’s paws and in his eyes).
Prices for the pendants, which can be paired with various Pomellato chains and bracelets, range from $1,440 for a small Orsetto without diamonds to $3,480 for a large diamond-studded bear.
It’s a good time, trend-wise, for Orsetto’s reappearance.
The pendant’s pairing of childish motif with luxe materials falls in line with high-camp fine jewelry designs from in-demand brands such as Alison Lou and Solange Azagury-Partridge.
We can envision the splashy influencer campaign already.
