I love a dressy party, especially on New Year’s Eve—a holiday that most certainly calls for crystalline punch bowls, kicky cocktail dresses, sharply tailored suits, bold jewels, and a sprig or two of mistletoe.
To celebrate the passage of another happy and healthy year, I plan to channel a little of that late-’50s/early-’60s haute fashion rehashed so beautifully on the award-winning Amazon show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (the second season of which I unapologetically binge-watched last week).
Fortunately, I have a drawerful of vintage mid-century costume jewels in that Midge Maisel style—from diamanté flower brooches to faux-emerald drop earrings.
But if money were no object (one day!), I would head straight for these 10 glam-glorious jewels—designed and crafted by some of the world’s most storied jewelry houses. Not all are mid-century in origin and/or design—but they all boast loads of sparkle and a very flossy vintage vibe.
How could one not have a Happy New Year in these dazzling designs?
