Golden South Sea pearl jewelry brand Jewelmer has opened its first-ever U.S. boutique in Palm Beach, Fla. The roughly 800-square-foot store joins Chanel, Graff, Tiffany & Co., and other luxury retailers on tony shopping row Worth Avenue.
The global brand, which was founded in 1979 by French pearl farmer Jacques Branellec and Filipino businessman Manuel Cojuangco, has existing stores in the Philippines, Cambodia, and Kazakhstan. The brand is also carried in specialty jewelry stores in China, Japan, Australia, France, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Brazil, Peru, and Colombia, among other countries.
The first U.S. Jewelmer store—at 235 Worth Ave., Unit A—is a bright and airy jewel box full of nautical accents, including wooden elements designed to evoke the feel of a yacht. Designed in collaboration with Mundo Design and Build, the shop features Jewelmer’s full collection of Parisian-inspired designs set with gleaming golden South Sea pearls.
The company’s decision to plant its flag in multicultural Palm Beach was strategic, says Branellec, executive vice president and deputy CEO of Jewelmer. “Luxury aficionados come to Palm Beach in search of rare and unique collections that wouldn’t be found in most high streets of major cities,” he told JCK. “Thus, we feel that this is exactly where our collections and the story of our maison belong.”
Branellec adds that the brand is in growth mode, but the exec was mum about any new stores on the horizon, saying only, “As we continue to share the golden pearl, we have sought to establish our presence in many more countries, in turn creating strong relationships between the brand and our partners who support the brand’s vision.”
