J. Lo’s performance killed it and so did some of the jewels that appeared on the red carpet
The media hailed the American Music Awards as a party thanks in part to J. Lo’s performance, but the stars did their part by bringing some serious fashion fun to the equation. From ear climbers to drops to diamond-dusted stacking rings, the jewelry worn on the red carpet was as worthy of celebration as the music at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 22.
For starters, drop earrings ruled the night. Actresses Maika Monroe and Nina Dobrev both wore drops, the latter from John Hardy. Presenter Julianne Hough wore long beaded tassel numbers, and performer Carrie Underwood wore a pair of diamond silhouettes from Kimberly McDonald.
Modern earrings like climbers also got a nod. Alanis Morissette wore ruby and diamond cluster climbers from Leticia Linton, winner of the award for Favorite Female Artist Pop/Rock Ariana Grande wore understated vine-motif diamond climbers (as well as a sprawling colorless diamond ring from Lydia Courteille), and actress and presenter Alicia Silverstone wore a stud-and-chain ensemble on the ear from Casa Reale. Model and presenter Gigi Hadid wore a diamond ear climber from Sutra as well as some yellow gold stacking rings.
Of course, the diamonds were abundant. E!’s Giuliana Rancic wore studs from Harry Kotlar, and E!’s Zuri Hall, wore Jorge Adeler drop earrings with diamonds and a diamond bracelet and two diamond rings from Le Vian. Presenter Kelsea Ballerini wore slim diamond climbers, as well as some Effy rings. Presenter Ashley Benson wore several minimalist colorless diamond rings from Graziela Gems.
Demi Lovato wore sultry black diamonds and black rhodium-covered stacks courtesy of Lynn Ban, infusing a healthy dose of dark swagger to her red carpet looks.
