If you have any meetings scheduled for Oct. 16, try to push them back—Doyle New York’s Important Jewelry auction kicks off next Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. ET, and you won’t want to miss your chance to bid on the piles of exquisite signed pieces by every high jewelry name you can think of, from Boucheron to Buccellati to Belperron. And there is So. Much. Bulgari.
The auction is organized into the three parts: a general haul from “a distinguished New Jersey decorator,” “a Long Island lady,” “a New York private collector,” and other anonymous sources, plus the impressive estates of two very posh and connected New Yorkers: Henrie Jo “Bootsie” Barth and Barbara Wainscott.
A little bird told me to start by browsing the jewelry from the Wainscott estate, and it is indeed quite fabulous. She was the type of jewelry collector who owned not one but two pairs of Schlumberger paillonné enamel ear clips, and she also had a penchant for whimsical pieces with flora and fauna themes. (David Webb animal bracelet? Check and check.)
Jump straight to the lots below or else you’ll end up down a rabbit hole filled with so much Verdura, Cartier, Seaman Schepps, and Van Cleef & Arpels it will make your head spin. Not that that’s entirely a bad thing, but still….
