Neiman Marcus has appointed Melissa Lowenkron (pictured) as its general merchandise manager of accessories, including designer jewelry, precious jewels, ladies’ shoes, and handbags.
In her new role, Lowenkron will focus on “profitability, holistic category management, and renewed brand partnerships,” said a statement from the department store chain.
Most recently, Lowenkron served as a senior vice president and general merchandise manager for Bergdorf Goodman, which is a subsidiary of Neiman Marcus.
Longtime Neiman jewelry buyer Larry Pelzel will report to Lowenkron. Pelzel won Jewelers of America’s GEM Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015,
Two veteran general merchandise managers, Gerald Barnes and Jonathan Joselove, have both announced their retirements.
Lowenkron has worked for Neiman Marcus before, in different roles, including in the sportswear and children’s departments.
The merchandising reshuffle is part of a larger management shake-up under new Neiman Marcus CEO Geoffroy van Raemdonck, who joined the company in January.
Carrie Tharp, who joined the company as senior vice president and chief marketing officer in September 2016, has been promoted to executive vice president, chief digital officer.
Tharp’s team will include Stefanie Tsen, who is joining Neiman as vice president for omnichannel customer experiences. She was most recently the vice president of omnichannel experience for Sephora and has also worked in a similar role for Louis Vuitton.
Adam Orvos, who became Neiman Marcus’ chief financial officer in April, will now also take on the role of chief operating officer. In his new role, Orvos will oversee the information technology and cybersecurity, supply chain and operations, and legal departments. He also takes on the title of executive vice president.
Tracy Preston, senior vice president, general counsel, has been named the company’s chief compliance officer.
In June, the company appointed Darcy Penick president of Bergdorf Goodman. Penick had previously served as CEO of Amazon-owned fashion site Shopbop.
