Victoria McKay (pictured) will be stepping down as chief operating officer of the London Diamond Bourse after six years of service.
Following her departure, Stacey Aylott will take over the day-to-day management of the London-based trading club. Aylott currently serves as operations manager, after being promoted from executive assistant.
In the statement, London Diamond Bourse president Alan Cohen said, “Victoria has played a critical role in positioning the London Diamond Bourse as a progressive bourse worldwide and has transformed us from an inwardly focused private members club into a respected professional trade association with a global profile.”
Cohen credited McKay with, among other things, heading the team that for three years looked to find a new home for the bourse.
The club ultimately decided to relocate within its current locale at 100 Hatton Garden, the iconic building located in the heart of London’s diamond district that is also home to many diamond and jewelry companies. After a refurbish, the London Diamond Bourse will become the management company for a new, larger space, instead of the smaller area it currently holds.
In his statement, Cohen said the “trade will never know what a massive job this [process] has been.”
McKay plans to remain with the London bourse in the short term to oversee the final stages of “what has been a very long and complex negotiation, with dozens of specialist firms, legal matters, and advisors to contend with,” Cohen said.
In addition, McKay will be engaged by the bourse as a consultant to manage the launch of the new space.
McKay first joined the London Diamond Bourse in 2012. She originally served in the role of operations manager, but she was promoted to the position of chief operating officer, then a new role, in January 2014.
