I saw this dress from @brothervellies on Instagram over the weekend and was instantly drawn to how it mimics the gemstone in so many ways. Dubbed the CD-ROM dress (you can see why), I’d love an excuse to wear this beauty—paired with plenty of moonstone jewels, of course.
A great match would be this beauty of a ring designed by Laura Medine. Medine is the wife of jewelry designer Mark Henry, whose brand is known for its all-alexandrite designs. In her own work, Medine shares an enthusiasm for that gemstone but widely incorporates moonstone in her collections, too. This piece makes use of both: A single round alexandrite pops from the center of a mesmerizing moonstone, dressed up with a meandering path of tapered baguette diamonds.
It’s an eye-catching style that I interpret in a number of ways: a river of diamonds traveling through a landscape of moonstone; a shimmering moonstone mirror cracked through the center, revealing a layer of sparkle; a flawlessly finished jigsaw puzzle. It’s a work of art to be interpreted as the wearer sees fit, and its form is certain to send the imagination soaring.
