Boho was big at the biannual Paris trade fair
In late January, thanks to Promosalons and its sponsors, I had the chance to visit a terrific collection of trade shows at Paris market week: Who’s Next (fashion), Première Classe (accessories), Maison & Objet (design), Salon International de la Lingerie (you got that one, right?), and, perhaps best of all for this JCK editor, Bijorhca (jewelry!).
The show features both fashion and fine jewelry, but I was most captivated by its fashion selections—so colorful, fairly priced, and stylish, but not eye-rollingly hip. (Scroll down to see a few of my favorite finds!)
I loved strolling through the Cream salon, devoted to 20 up-and-coming artists—think JCK’s Design Center—where you’ve never seen so much fringe, tassels, crochet elements, and delicate craftwork in your life. The DJ and disco ball were also a very nice touch. In the main gallery, the silver and vermeil bracelets (pictured, above right) by Polish designer Marcin Zaremski stopped me in my tracks. Bangles that are actually shaped like a woman’s wrist—i.e., not completely circular? Why don’t more designers do that? (He’ll be exhibiting at JCK Las Vegas. Be sure to stop by!)
Personally, I wanted to live in the Escale Exotique section.
But perhaps my favorite part of the show? The trend showcases—essentially mini boutiques—devoted to four spring-summer 2016 trends (represented at the top of the page, from left to right): Sensual Romance (Sensuelle Romance), Variable Geometry (Géométrie Variable), Land of Sunshine (Terre de Soleil), and Exotic Interlude (Escale Exotique). Trend forecasting, display and merchandising ideas, and a fine-tuned selection of Bijorhca’s best fashion jewelry all in one spot—such a cool concept.
The wonderfully intimate—and très chic, naturellement—show welcomed 12,500 attendees over its Jan. 22–25 run. Apparently only 3 percent were from the United States. So we ask: What are you waiting for? Bijorhca runs twice annually; the next installment is Sept. 2–5 at the Porte de Versailles.
I’m picturing this tribal bib necklace from Nikolis Group with a super-simple black strapless dress and wedge sandals. (In my mind, it’s summer.)
LeJu London’s Japanese glass bead bracelets are the stuff of my boho dreams—and they averaged about 13 euros ($14+) wholesale.
Shlomit Ofir’s delicate plated designs are perfect for your nature-loving shoppers.
Remember, it’s all about big earrings in 2016! I love the vintage look of this Art Wear Dimitriadis pair.
If you haven’t jumped on the boho bandwagon by now, these styles (by Azuni London and Franck Herval) should help convince you.
