Lots include pieces from Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Harry Winston, and Fabergé
Christie’s will auction items from late comedian Joan Rivers’ private collection, including jewelry.
A live auction featuring 200 lots will take place June 22 in New York, and an online auction featuring 80 lots will run June 16-23.
Items include personal jewelry from Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Harry Winston and decorative objects including a jeweled nephrite study of a Lily of the Valley leaf by Fabergé (estimate: $200,000-$300,000), and a silver Tiffany water bowl engraved “for Spike,” her dog (estimate: $500-$800).
“My mother’s legacy as a much-loved comedienne and philanthropist will be commemorated in this collaboration with Christie’s,” said Melissa Rivers, her daughter. “Her generosity to charitable causes is something I will continue in her honor; part of the proceeds of the sale will go towards supporting God’s Love We Deliver and Guide Dogs for the Blind, which are both close to my heart.”
