Bridal represents about 50 percent of parent company Signet’s total merchandise sales
Diamonds and diamond jewelry accounted for 77 percent of the merchandise mix of Sterling Jewelers, the umbrella company that includes the Kay and Jared nameplates, according to parent company Signet’s fiscal 2016 annual report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
That is slightly up from fiscal 2014, when diamonds and diamond jewelry accounted for 75 percent.
Gold and silver jewelry, including charm bracelets, accounted for 9 percent; other jewelry, 8 percent; and watches, 6 percent.
At the Zale division, diamonds account for 61 percent of the mix, followed by gold and silver (27 percent), other jewelry (9 percent), and watches (3 percent).
Looking at Signet overall, diamonds and diamond jewelry accounted for 65 percent of its sales, followed by gold and silver (9 percent), other jewelry (17 percent), and watches (9 percent).
Overall, bridal represents about 50 percent of Signet’s total merchandise sales.
Custom design services account for 5 percent of its sales, while repair services represent less than 5 percent of sales and approximately 30 percent of transactions.
