Fine jewelry brand Tacori announced last week that it’s the exclusive launch partner of a new organization and initiative, Shine Together, which celebrates the awesome impact of women while helping to create measurable opportunities for them around the world.
The organization provides a platform for women to celebrate and elevate each other through storytelling, real-world mentorship, “meaningful” networking, and by providing resources and funding to organizations that provide opportunities to women and girls.
Shine Together was inspired by Valerie Jarrett and the women of the Obama administration, according to the organization’s website, who were “relentlessly dedicated to shining a light on the successes and contributions of their female colleagues.”
In 2013, journalist Ann Friedman and digital strategist Aminatou Sow dubbed the conscious act of elevating other women the “shine theory” and “challenged women everywhere to consider whether success might be contagious,” according to the organization.
On the initiative’s website, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, the #ShineTogether series launched last week with stories from inspiring women, including Valerie Jarrett, Olympian Nastia Liukin, and entrepreneur Selina Tobaccowala.
Shine Together was founded by Leah Busque, founder of TaskRabbit and general partner at Fuel Capital, and Jamie Viggiano, brand consultant and former vice president of marketing at TaskRabbit. Tacori was named as the the exclusive launch partner for the organization.
Tacori’s website has a dedicated page to Shine Together that reads: “Our goal is to make 2018 the year that we shine a light on positive success; and in 2018 and beyond, #ShineTogether will be sharing the brilliance, strength, and #shine of the women who are at the heart of our business.”
Cofounder Busque said in a company statement, “Shine Together is committed to the idea that everyone can shine on each other to make the future brighter. We recognize that success is limitless; the more it is celebrated and recognized, the more it will inspire future success.”
