Britt’s Pick: Circles Ring by Eva Stone

I always used to insist that I absolutely detested roses. Too cliché, too tacky. But what I’ve come to realize is that while I do feel that way about red roses (sorry, red rose lovers—there are only so many times you can see them scattered about a romantic scene without feeling like they’re totally cheesy), I actually really do like the flower, quite a lot. So much so, actually, that I always have pink roses in the house now (I guess I have a thing for pink). That infatuation with pink roses has blossomed into an appreciation for (nearly) every variation of the flower, and I find that I’m irresistibly drawn to it in many forms.

That’s why I was instantly smitten with Eva Stone‘s ring, above. Named Circles, I don’t think it’s really meant to be roses at all, but the spiraling pattern that clusters along the ruthenium-blackened band bears a striking resemblance to the blooms. That the setting is gleefully dark—add to it the black diamond trio that dances across it—lends a gothic look, creating the scene for an epic romance rife with drama (much like a vampire novel, I like to imagine).

Plated in gold, the design takes on a more regal look, like a gilded palace inhabited by Marie Antoinette. Still a bed of roses, the rich background contrasts with its black diamond trio beautifully, and even though the ring and cuff bracelet take on different looks, I think they’d still pair wonderfully together.

The designer Rafal Szyszko, together with his wife, Eva, are the beautiful minds behind Eva Stone, the Gdansk, Poland-based brand. Established in 2006, they’ve been serving up gorgeous jewelry for a respectable amount of time now, but this by far is my favorite style. Be sure to stop by and see them in the Design Center at JCK Las Vegas this year to see what else they have up their sleeves.
