The Diamond Empowerment Fund will honor De Beers CEO Bruce Cleaver, Rolex, and the government of Canada’s Northwest Territories at its annual Diamonds Do Good gala, to be held May 31 at the Four Seasons Ballroom during the JCK Las Vegas show.
The government of Canada’s Northwest Territories will receive the Diamonds Do Good Responsible Government Award; Rolex will receive the Diamonds Do Good Global Corporate Spirit Award; and De Beers CEO Bruce Cleaver will receive the Diamonds Do Good Professional Advancement Award.
The government of the Northwest Territories is being honored for its mineral development strategy that protects the environment, enhances indigenous engagement and community capacity building, and promotes sustainability, according to the DEF.
Rolex will be commended for its Awards for Enterprise, which honor exceptional individuals with the passion and commitment to improve life on the planet.
Cleaver is being saluted for committing his organization to the advancement of women and girls. Under his leadership, De Beers has partnered with UN Women to achieve gender parity in De Beers senior leadership by 2020, invest in women micro-entrepreneurs and STEM students in its diamond producing countries, and ensure De Beers’ brands support gender equality in their marketing campaigns.
