Here’s a style that’s been around since, well, forever: symbol jewelry. From religious icons dating back to the Renaissance to Victorian hearts and snakes, and on to art nouveau’s birds, shapes of all sorts have been adorning the necks, wrists, and fingers of jewelry wearers for a long, long time. We’ve picked up new symbols along the way—like the emoji—but there’s a lot of old influence rooted in even the most modern pieces (think crescent moons, crosses, hearts, stars, and the like). The preferred methods of wearing such symbols of late are tiny charm-like iterations, and if you ask me, they’ve never looked better. The most difficult part? Deciding which one to choose.
