Sarine Technologies and subsidiary Galatea have filed several lawsuits in India seeking injunctive reliefs and damages for patent and software copyright infringement.
A statement asserts that “a group of unscrupulous businessmen” in India have “brazenly misappropriate[d] Sarine’s technology and violate[d] its intellectual property rights—particularly regarding its Advisor rough diamond mapping software, and its technologies for mapping internal inclusions.”
Courts in Ahmedabad and Surat have conducted raids on four locations and issued ex parte orders against the infringers, Sarine claims.
“It is unfortunate that a limited number of unscrupulous parties are tainting the entire Indian diamond industry,” said Sarine CEO David Block in a statement. “We are encouraged by the courts’ swift action, their understanding of the gravity of the situation, and their implementation of immediate steps to protect Sarine’s legal rights.”
