In the spirit of and coinciding with the Fourth of July this year, Sotheby’s is staging an auction of American fine jewelry designers, including David Webb, Tiffany & Co., Seaman Schepps, and eclectic West Coast designer Tony Duquette. The sale, which features property from the collection of the late philanthropist from Palm Beach, Fla., Marjorie S. Fisher, will be split into two parts. Bidding for the first sale—the perfect celebration of the summer season, according to the auction house—will start tomorrow and is slated to run through July 14.
“As easily paired with blue jeans as with a formal gown, the versatile designs exude effortless American style,” the auction house advertises on its website.
Pieces include sparklers like Oscar Heyman’s diamond ear clips with a starting bid of $7,000; Harry Winston’s sapphire, ruby, and diamond brooch in the form of a ribbon with a starting bid of $2,000; and Valentin Magro’s peridot and diamond clip brooch and earrings with a starting bid of $5,000.
The second sale, which will include more items from the collection of Marjorie S. Fisher, will be open for bidding from July 20 through August 3.
