Kristin Cavallari, one of the stars of reality TV show Laguna Beach, has dabbled in jewelry design in the past. In 2013, she launched a fine jewelry line in collaboration with Pascal Mouawad and Glamboutique.
But with her brand new jewelry collection, Uncommon James, the starlet is aiming for mass appeal.
The 15-piece collection, which includes rings, bracelets, and earrings priced from $42 to $89, is full of the pretty “daily gold” pieces that have become ubiquitous in stylish American women’s wardrobes: gem-studded geometric rings, open-design bangles, bejeweled little climber-stud hybrids, and the like. Each piece, according to product descriptions, is made from “alloy” and “specially sourced crystals.”

“Wow—here it is—the launch of Uncommon James!” Cavallari wrote on the brand’s website in a letter dated April 25. “It seems like yesterday I made the decision to start my own company and within just a few short months, I am here before you with a line so meaningful and personal to me. I’ve poured my heart and soul into Uncommon James, having a hand in every facet of the company, to make it a true reflection of my personal style.”
She went on to stress the importance of accessibility in jewelry design: “I don’t believe to achieve great style you have to break the bank. I want this line to get rid of the stigma that to look and feel great you have to have the best of the best and spend an entire paycheck on one ring.”
