Judith Ripka has signed a new license agreement that lets Pranda North America manufacture its fine jewelry line.
Pranda North America takes over from KGK, which has held the license since November 2014.
All product design, merchandising, and marketing will now be handled directly by Xcel Brands, which bought the Judith Ripka brand in 2014. Production and sales will be handled by Pranda.
“The KGK license was a more traditional license whereby Xcel provided only design direction,” says Robert D’Loren, CEO of Xcel Brands. “Our strategy going forward will be similar to how we approach fashion. Going forward we will act more vertical.”
Pranda has manufactured Judith Ripka products for the last 18 years, says Xcel.
Designer Judith Ripka will remain the brand ambassador and chief creative officer, though some of the employees who worked on the brand with KGK will no longer be involved.
