There are those jewelry designers whose creations are unmistakably their own. You can view an entire collection—each piece distinctly different from the last—and still, there is a special element, a signature touch, that ties them all together. Alex Sepkus is one of those designers. His craftsmanship is evident in every creation, from the centerpiece, cocktail-style rings, to the simplest pair of hoop earrings (though with Sepkus, nothing is simple). There’s a bit of Old World style in there, with oxidized detail and textured finishes, but you’ll find a sculptural sort of modernity, too. It’s an art form that belongs to and can only come from Sepkus himself and, as an art form, is open to interpretation. I have personally concocted my own interpretation: a sort of Byzantine-meets-post-apocalyptic take, where each maze-like detail leads to some long-kept, world-altering secret. Hollywood types, take note: If that description happens to match your next blockbuster film, you now know where to find the jewelry for it. Try to describe them all you like, or simply just bathe in their beauty—here are my most recent favorites from Alex Sepkus.
