The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) is now making available to wholesale and retail jewelers their collection of thousands of gemstone images. Accessible through its Internet site, the ICA Gemstone Image Library can be viewed at www.gemstone.org.
The ICA invites jewelers to use its image library for projects such as Web site building, advertising, merchandising, trade press publicity, and other commercial enterprises. The library has a database of more than 4,000 professional slide images of gemstones in faceted, carved, and rough form. Photography is by well-known jewelry industry photographers and gem dealers.
The site features an alphabetical pull-down menu of gem names—from agate to zoisite—that’s linked to small slide images. Most gem categories have several image choices. ICA members pay $25 per slide, book authors pay $50 per slide, and a one-time commercial reprint costs $100. Photo credit must be given to ICA. Slides can be ordered and shipped directly from the Web site. The site offers secure credit card processing.
Because of space limitations, the online image library cannot hold all the images ICA has to offer. For more information on the Gemstone Image Library, or to order a specific gem slide, contact ICA, 3 E. 48th St., Fifth Floor, New York, NY 10017; (212) 688-8452, fax (212) 688-9006, e-mail: ica@gemstone.org.
