The Hawaii Jewelers Association sponsored three design contests during its Spring Convention and Banquet held in Honolulu. Entries were divided into Bridal, Men’s, and Metal (no center stone) categories. The winners were:
Bridal: First place—Techno Wave rings (shown) by Brian Thomsen and Darrenn Marcum, DBJ Goldsmiths Inc., dba Precision Goldsmiths, Wailuku; second place—Naupaka Wedding Band by Karla Brom, Rainbow Collection, Honolulu; third place—First Bride of Spring ring by Thomas Sauvé, Sauvé Jewelry, Kihei; People’s Choice—Hand in Marriage bride’s hand ornament by Roxanne Beebe Design, Lahaina.
Men’s: First place—Southswell ring (right) by Joseph Moes, DBJ Goldsmiths Inc., dba Precision Goldsmiths, Wailuku; second place—Blue Pool Maui ring by Thomas Sauvé, Sauvé Jewelry, Kihei; third place—Volcano Down Under ring by Rich Mace, Opal Fields, Honolulu; People’s Choice—Lanakai Sunrise ring by Hella Allestorfer-Meek, Windward Jewelers, Kailua.
Metal: First place and People’s Choice—Nicholas dragon pendant (left) by Denny Wong, Cosmos Jewelry, Honolulu; second place—Black Flames in Platinum pendant by Eric Gold, Gold originals,,Honolulu; third place—Catch’n A Wave pendant by Steven Lee, Steven Lee Designs, Aiea.
