The American Gem Society (AGS) will hold its annual charity auction for the Jewelers Charity Fund for Children (JCF) during the AGS conclave April 24-27 in Vancouver, Canada.
AGS kicked off its fundraising effort by presenting the book African Renaissance by acclaimed photographer Peter Magubane to Patricia A. Light, JCF executive director, during the JA New York Summer Show. AGS received the book during a recent tour of platinum and diamond mines in South Africa sponsored by the Anglo American Platinum Corp. (Amplats) and the Platinum Guild. AGS executive director Robert W. Bridel presented the book to Light. “I’m honored that during a trip of that importance they would think of me and the children we are helping,” she said.
Also in attendance during the ceremony were Louis Schultz of Brixton & Gill, Jeffrey M. Abell and Linda R. Abell of Sara Leonard Fine Jewelry, and Cathy Calhoun of Zenker Jewelers.
The Jewelers Charity Fund for Children was created by the jewelry industry with the mission of raising funds for charities that primarily benefit children. The American Gem Society is dedicated to setting and maintaining the highest possible standards of business ethics and professionalism in the jewelry industry.
