Bea Shapiro, wife of Diamond Club West Coast president Ralph Shapiro and a prominent diamond dealer in her own right, died recently.
In addition to working in the diamond business, Bea was a fashion designer who was active in community affairs. Following her death, the city of Irvine, Calif., dedicated a 23-acre park in her memory.
A county supervisor was quoted in a local newspaper saying, “If I were to nominate a first lady of Irvine, she would be the one.” A city councilman added: “No one has worked harder or more tirelessly to ensure that Irvine is a great place to live.”
“She was a D Flawless,” Ralph Shapiro says. “She was highly respected in the industry. I miss her tremendously and I thank God I was with her.”
