The New York offices of Silver Trust International and the Silver Information Center have been closed, effective Oct. 12.
The announcement was made in a letter from Linda Meehan, former SIC director. In business for 14 years, SIC was responsible for creating promotional and educational programs as well as creating advertising and public relations opportunities, offering editorial and press information, and collecting market data. The STI/SIC office was supported by monies from various international silver mining companies, which, in light of continued low silver prices, have had to cut costs.
The Silver Institute, the parent group of STI and SIC, continues to operate from its Washington, D.C., headquarters. Meehan’s letter said the Institute hopes to reinstate some of the consumer marketing programs in the future. The group can be reached at (202) 835-0185.
