For some of Richmond’s most fashionable, the allure of Schwarzchild Jewelers is not the store’s history or charm but rather the woman who for 10 years has brought the art of high design in house and created customized jewelry for individual clients.
In recognition of Trish Mitchell’s decade as the talented eye and warm face of Schwarzchild custom design, the jeweler recently held a special event in her honor. “Trish Mitchell Harris: A 10-Year Retrospective Exhibition” featured more than 130 hand-made, one-of-a-kind pieces designed by Harris. Each piece, loaned by Schwarzchild customers, was exhibited alongside her original rendering of the design. The three-day exhibit opened with a reception for more than 400 customers, who came to recognize Harris for her career at Schwarzchild Jewelers.
“It is a great tribute to Trish and to Schwarzchild that so many of our clients enthusiastically embraced the exhibition,” says Stewart Kasen, president of Schwarzchild Jewelers.
Harris’s achievements—including finalist in the Diamonds International Award competition—read like the résumé of a branded designer. A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts Jewelry Design program, she has been the exclusive designer at Schwarzchild since 1991.
