The American Gem Society recently announced the resignation of executive director and chief executive officer Robert W. Bridel. Bridel said his resignation was for family reasons. Until the AGS board of directors selects a replacement for Bridel, current controller and chief financial officer Ruth Batson will assume his duties.
In a written statement to the AGS board of directors, Bridel said:
“It is with great regret that I resign my position as executive director and CEO of the American Gem Society. It is necessary for me to devote more time [to] my family, and my current schedule prevents me from doing so. I am proud to have served the AGS and of the tremendous accomplishments of our board and staff.”
AGS president Bill Farmer Jr. thanked Bridel for his many years of service and leadership, adding, “The membership of the AGS includes numerous family businesses, and we understand the importance of these most valuable relationships and support him in his endeavors.”
