Vintage Jewelry, A Price and Identification Guide, 1920-1940s, by Leigh Leshner, has been published by Krause Publications. The full-color guide covers more than 1,000 signed and unsigned vintage white metal and rhinestone jewelry pieces made from the 1920s to the 1940s.

The price and identification guide chapter consists of 400 exquisite color photos displaying more than 1,000 jewelry pieces such as bracelets, brooches, dress clips, earrings, and necklaces, accompanied by prices. A detailed index makes it easy to locate specific types of jewelry.

The book provides a history of vintage white metal and rhinestone jewelry, from the expendable costume jewelry of the 1920s to the sweetheart jewelry and tremblers of the 1940s. It also provides a history of rhinestones; displays the common cuts, shapes, and settings of rhinestones; explains types of metals used in production; and gives an overview of collecting jewelry.

Many patriotic-themed pieces made during World War II are showcased. These gave collectors a public venue to display support for the organized war effort. Since the Sept. 11 attacks, interest has swelled in these patriotic pieces as a way to show public support for the war on terrorism.
