In a recent survey, jewelry buyers named The JCK Show ~ Las Vegas as the most popular business venue for the jewelry industry. The study, commissioned by Reed Exhibitions and conducted by a third-party research firm, showed that 72% of show attendees were “completely satisfied” or “very satisfied” with the event. Eighty-six percent of buyers responding said they were “extremely” or “very” likely to return in 2003.
According to the study, conducted shortly after the 2002 JCK Show, the most important factors for buyers deciding whether to attend a trade show are the quality of the exhibitors and having a broad range of products and services. Satisfaction with The JCK Show is up over previous years, with 38% viewing the event as better than the previous year and approximately three quarters of polled buyers agreeing that the show is the industry’s “must-attend event.”
“We were very pleased with the results of the research,” says Fran Pennella, show marketing director. “It underscores that we have been listening to the industry and reacting appropriately to meet its needs. Further, it discounts the myth that retailers are looking for a smaller venue, where it would be impossible to see the scope of products and services offered by JCK ~ Las Vegas.”
Poll respondents also indicated that the major improvements planned for the 2003 JCK Show would enhance the show experience. These include a redesigned floor plan with new pavilions, a cleanup of existing pavilions to conform to the product categories represented, and relocating some pavilions so buyers can more easily shop for “like” products. An improved registration process will include extended exhibitor registration hours, expedited on-site buyer registration, and customer assistance professionals in both exhibitor and buyer registration areas. Other improvements include more cafes, lounges, and seating areas, upgraded food service, and wider aisles.
The study revealed that buyers make half their annual purchases at trade shows, and 40% of that is done at the JCK Show ~ Las Vegas. Koichi Takahashi, COO of Mikimoto America, commented, “Since we started exhibiting at the JCK Las Vegas show in 1992, the show continues to deliver the buyers we want to see. We look forward to another great show at JCK Las Vegas 2003.”
Dave Bonaparte, vice president of The JCK Shows, adds, “We were extremely happy to see our commitment to the industry proven via actual research. While we are hearing about other events in Las Vegas, JCK holds true to its positioning and customers’ needs.”
At press time, key exhibitors already committed to the 2003 event included David Yurman, Roberto Coin, Mikimoto, Damiani, Scott Kay, and Carrera y Carrera. Committed pavilions include the Galleria, Plumb Club, Design Center, Time Square, and Diamond Plaza.
