The summer issue of Gems & Gemology includes a three-page foldout that illustrates the grading ranges for natural pink diamonds. The article, “Characterization and Grading of Natural-Color Pink Diamonds,” was written by John King of the New York GIA Gem Trade Lab, along with a team of GIA researchers. With more fancy-color diamonds entering the mainstream, the article sheds light on the subtleties involved in color-grading not only pinks but all fancy-colored diamonds. The issue also has an update on the new enhancement of golden South Sea pearls.
