To accommodate the increasing demand for on-campus Graduate Gemologist programs and jewelry design classes, GIA Thailand has added two classrooms and now occupies one-and-a-half floors in Bangkok’s Bisco Tower. The school is located near the heart of Thailand’s central business district, near what’s considered the world center for colored gemstones and jewelry. Thailand also is a major diamond-cutting center.
GIA Thailand began as one classroom in 1993. The first expansion occurred in 1997 when the campus moved to the Bisco Tower to accommodate a second classroom. A third classroom and a library were added the following year. In 2001, the campus grew to five classrooms and occupied the entire 12th floor of the Bisco Tower. With this recent expansion, the GIA Thailand campus now covers 800 square meters.
