Industry Leaders Honored

Ed and Jon Bridge of Ben Bridge Jeweler and Dilip Mehta of Rosy Blue will be honored by The Diamond, Jewelry, and Watch Group of UJA-Federation of New York at its annual industry awards dinner. Ed and Jon Bridge will receive the Award of Excellence; Mehta will be honored with the Humanitarian Award. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2003, at The Pierre Hotel, Fifth Ave. and 61st St., New York.

Ed and Jon Bridge, co-chief executive officers of Ben Bridge Jeweler, represent the fourth generation of the family-managed retail jewelry business, founded in 1912 in Seattle by their late grandfather, Ben Bridge. In 2000, Berkshire Hathaway bought the company.

Dilip Mehta heads another family corporation, Rosy Blue, the world’s largest vertically integrated diamond and jewelry organization, with 15 major centers throughout the world.

Mehta developed diamond-cutting and -polishing skills at the age of 16, and later joined his brothers in Bombay selling polished diamonds. In 1973, he moved to Antwerp and spent the following decade consolidating the business locally and expanding the group internationally.
