DCIT Corp., Ridgefield, N.J., has announced that dbFlex for MS SQL Server, a database connectivity enhancement for BusinessMind, is available for purchase.
This latest BusinessMind enhancement provides connectivity to Microsoft SQL Server databases, allowing BusinessMind users the option of using that database’s high-end capabilities as the back end for primary BusinessMind data storage. The dbFlex for MS SQL Server option is available exclusively for enterprise editions of BusinessMind.
DCIT is currently developing additional dbFlex modules for BusinessMind to allow connectivity with Sybase and Oracle databases as well. These are expected to be available sometime this year. SQL Server product and purchasing information is available from Microsoft Corporation.
The SQL Server connectivity option for BusinessMind requires the Enterprise Edition of BusinessMind for Jewelers, an appropriate JDBC Driver, and SQL Server 7 or greater.
In other news, DCIT Corp. released the latest version of its BusinessMind for Jewelers software suite at the Jewelers of America (JA) New York show in January.
This latest release adds dozens of new features and numerous improvements. Version 3.0 is available as separate BMJ products for jewelry retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers.
Users of any BusinessMind 2002 and later software system with an active support-and-upgrades subscription can download this latest software release from DCIT’s Web site free of charge.
BusinessMind for Jewelers features component-based software architecture, SQL technology, cross-platform compatibility with UNIX, and a graphical Windows-style interface. It is suitable for use in large multi-location network environments as well as single-station systems.
DCIT offers software and technology services for business computing on all major platforms including Linux, Windows, and MacOS X. The company specializes in meeting the needs of businesses in the global gem and jewelry industries.
