Two Sacramento County jewelry store employees were shot and killed July 25 during a suspected robbery, reports local television news station, KCRA.
The deadly robbery happened at Kim Van Jewelry on 65th Avenue in South Sacramento. The bodies of husband and wife Loi Ngo and Jue Nguyen were found in a backroom in the store. They were shot and killed execution-style, police told KCRA.
The victims’ oldest daughter, Trang Nguyen, spoke out Monday, three days after the double murder.
“Their whole life was to work for us and make sure we had a better life than they did in Vietnam. I just hope they can finally rest now,” Trang reportedly said.
Surveillance videotape shows the suspect browsing in the store for two hours, KCRA reports. Investigators said the couple took the man in the back area of the store to look at a diamond, than killed them.
“It had to be someone my parents knew well enough. It was a frequent customer because they allowed him in the back room to set the diamonds,” Trang reportedly said.
“My own personal feeling on this from viewing the videotape is that it is a robbery,” Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Grant Stonmsivic reportedly said. “He did possibly get other items from the store.”
Deputies released pictures of witnesses in the store who they say might have seen the man they’re looking for.
“The man came out in broad daylight, and he ran to his car that was parked across the street. Someone must have seen something,” Trang reportedly said.
The suspect was originally described as an Hispanic male. He is now being described as an Asian male who is 17 to 25 years old. Investigators said he stands 5 ft. 2 in. to 5 ft. 3 in. tall, with a slender build. Witnesses said the man was wearing a baseball cap, blue-gray shirt, tan pants, and white tennis shoes.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as a 1990 beige-to-light-gold Ford Thunderbird. Authorities said it had a black front passenger fender.
