Sundance Diamonds, a division of U.S. Synthetic (USS), has announced the launch of its high pressure/high temperature (HPHT) diamond-processing service for the diamond industry. U.S. Synthetic is the world’s largest manufacturer of synthetic diamond components for use in oil and gas drilling.
The Orem, Utah-based company can permanently change brown and cape diamonds to fancy colors including yellow, orange, and green and change Type II diamonds from unmarketable colors to colorless or near-colorless.
Sundance Diamonds will offer a range of services, including preliminary analysis and color change assessment to determine suitability of stones before HPHT processing; HPHT education, research, and disclosure; helping interested parties secure the right supply of materials and aiding them in the selling process.
Sundance Diamonds will require all customers to sign an agreement to disclose the HPHT process in all sales. In addition, the company says, it is committed to assisting industry laboratories and institutions with HPHT detection and research. Over the past year, Sundance representatives have met and worked with most of the grading laboratories and industry organizations including the Diamond Manufacturers and Importers Association of America and the Jewelers Vigilance Committee.
