The Jewelry Chapter of American ORT will present Arthur E. Reiner, of Finaly Fine Jewelry Corp., with the 2003 ORT Community Achievement Award. Reiner will be honored at a special tribute dinner to be held Wed., Oct. 8, at the Grand Hyatt New York in New York City. He will be recognized for his many career accomplishments as well as his support of various civic and charitable causes championed by the jewelry industry.
Reiner began his retailing career in the early 1960s as a member of the Executive Training Squad at Bamberger’s, then a division of R.H. Macy. After holding a series of positions at Bamberger’s, in 1973 he was appointed senior vice president, director of merchandising for home furnishings and cosmetics. Two years later he moved to Macy’s New York to become senior vice president of merchandising, becoming president in 1978 and CEO in 1980. He served as chairman and CEO of Macy’s Northeast and later chairman and CEO of Macy’s East.
A graduate of Rutgers University, Reiner served for 10 years as chairman of the education foundation of the Fashion Institute of Technology and was named executive vice president in 1995. As a member of the board of directors of the Jewelers Charity Fund for Children (JCF), Reiner received CJF’s Facets of Hope Award in 2001. He currently serves as the organization’s vice president of marketing and is a member of the executive committee.
Reiner and his wife, Fran, have been married for 39 years and reside in Manhattan. They have two daughters and five grandchildren.
