The June 2003 Hong Kong Jewellery & Watch Fair, Asia’s biggest mid-year jewelry trade fair, brought together 551 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions, and 12,843 visitors from 65 countries and regions, as well as 5,008 exhibitors’ staff members. The 22nd Paspaley Pearl Auction was held in conjunction with the fair in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. On June 17-18, a total of 84,069 pearls weighing 54,245.55 momme were sold, accounting for 65.2% of all pearls on offer. The first and second top buyers were from Hong Kong and Japan, respectively.
