The 2004 conference of the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) will be held March 17-21 at the Hilton Downtown, St. Petersburg, Fla. Keynote speaker Christiane Corbat will address the theme of the 2004 conference, “In Pursuit of Passion.” She will be joined by 15 presenters including Barbara Becker Simon, Harlan Butt, Barbara Cotter, Robert Ebendorf, Dee Fontans, Steven Ford, Lisa Gralnick and Patricia Nelson, Arch Gregory, John Lewis Jensen, Charles Lewton Brain, Alan Revere, Deb Stoner, Dr. Joan Tenenbaum, and Valentin Yotkov.
The Annual Juried Student Slide Show, organized by Linda Darty, will be presented during the conference and arranged to showcase student work by school. Information about each school and its programs will be presented as the slides are shown.
A host of juried and curated exhibitions at local venues will run concurrently with the conference. Among them are the touring Robert Ebendorf retrospective, “Passed and Present, Then and Now”; “The Art of Adornment,” a 15-year survey of the work of Tom McCarthy; “Heavy Metals: Three Centuries of Silver & Gold” from the Permanent Collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg; and the Florida Society of Goldsmiths Statewide Juried Member Show.
