Sterling Jewelers Inc., the second largest fine-jewelry specialty retailer in the United States, recently received the “Employer of the Year” Award from the Governor’s Council on People with Disabilities. The award was presented during the Council’s Annual Meeting in Columbus, Ohio.
The Council accepts “Employer of the Year” nominations annually to recognize organizations that are proactive in hiring and retaining individuals with disabilities. By establishing partnerships with local disability agencies and including diversity education within its training curriculum, Sterling employs many people with disabilities in a variety of departments. Sterling operates 1,070 stores in 49 states and employs more than 13,000 associates.
