Jewelers of America (JA) has announced the winners of its 14th annual JA Affiliate Design Competition. The contest featured 31 entries that had won design competitions hosted by JA’s state and regional affiliate organizations in the previous year.
All of the entries were created by JA members or employees of JA member stores. They were displayed at JA’s booth during the JA New York show, held Jan. 25-27, 2004, at the Javits Center in New York City.
The winners were:

Category 1 ($1,000 and under): Jason Baskin, The Gem Vault, Flemington, N.J., representing the New Jersey Jewelers Association; pendant in 18k gold with 10.05-ct. t.w. millennium-cut green tourmaline and diamonds on multi-strand 18k gold neck wire.

Category 2 ($1,001 to $3,000): Jack Demerjian, J. Demere Designs, Livonia, Mich., representing the Michigan Jewelers Association; necklace in 18k yellow and white gold with a 12.52-ct. bicolor citrine, 67 white diamonds, and 67 yellow diamonds.

Category 3 ($3,001 and over): Brian Quigley, G.M. Pollack & Sons, Rockland, Maine, representing the Maine Jewelers Association; platinum bracelet with 4.92-ct. green tourmaline, six akoya cultured pearls, and diamond melee.

Buyers’ Choice Award (winners chosen by JA Show attendees): Tommy Aucoin Sr., Aucoin Hart Jewelers, Metairie, La., representing the Jewelers of Louisiana; ring in 18k gold and platinum with a 4.51-ct. natural fancy yellow diamond and two radiant-cut diamonds.
