A new tradition of The United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., has arrived at the Pease & Curren refinery in Warwick, R.I. The West Point Memorial Class Ring Program has asked Pease & Curren to take the first step in turning class rings donated by the families of deceased West Point alumni into rings for the graduating class of 2005.

Two cadets from the Class of 2005, along with two army officers and a representative of the Association of Graduates, United States Military Academy, will be on hand to witness the melting of 12 donated class rings. The melted gold will be incorporated into the class rings of future graduates, and a sample of the melted gold will be taken back to West Point to be added to next year’s melt. The remainder will be transferred to a representative of Balfour, the company casting the rings for the next West Point Class.
